The Little Things: Scene 1

INT. APARTMENT -- DAY

GEMMA is sitting at the small dining room table, smoking a cigarette and staring at an open laptop. She wears nothing but an oversized t-shirt. The radio plays soft music.

BUCKY walks in and sits a cup of coffee on the table.

BUCKY

Going to the shop. Is there anything you need?

GEMMA

Garlic salt...no, not the salt, the powder.

BUCKY

Okay. Is there anything else?

GEMMA

Besides the garlic powder? If there was something else, I would have mentioned it with the garlic powder. But I didn’t. Did I?

BUCKY

Not especially.

GEMMA

What?

BUCKY

What?

GEMMA

Who taught you how to speak English?

BUCKY

The Hubbard County Independent School District.

GEMMA

No. They didn’t.

Bucky grabs his wallet from the window sill and opens it up, checking his loot.

BUCKY

All right then. I’m on my way out.

GEMMA

Yes you are.

There are shuffling noises and footsteps. The front door closes. Gemma lights up another cigarette. She starts to type.

A loud noise crashing noise from outside catches her attention. She gets up from the chair and hurries to the window, peeking through the blinds.

GEMMA

Oh for fucks sake!

Cigarette still in mouth, she spots a pair of track suit bottoms.

GEMMA

Hubbard County Independent School District, indeed.

She puts on the bottoms and a pair of flip flops and heads towards the door.
